Months and months of preparation pass so quickly and the big day is coming up. The event will come and go but you will talk about the simcha with your children for years. The only thing that remains other than the memories are the photos and video of the event. I have put together a short checklist of things to look for when choosing a photographer.
What style of shooting is important to you?
Ask yourself if you are want a formal style or more relaxed spontaneous photography. Perhaps formal portraits are not important to you or it may be that portraits are the only thing you require. Some photographers are very aggressive in getting the shots, some are more laid back. Look at the style of the photographer and see how it matches with what you are looking for.
Are you getting the negatives?
Many photographers in Israel give out the negatives or copies of the digital files so you can print your own at your expense. The drawback is that your lab might not be as good as the photographer's, the plus side is that there is a savings in making your own prints.
Are the photos uploaded to a website to share the memories with other friends and family?
Many photographers today use digital cameras and uplaod web galleries. The advantage of this is that you can share the photos with friends and family abroad very soon after the simcha.
